STAR LAB PLANETARIUMThe Star LabThe Discovery CLC has the latest Star Lab projection system and giant inflatable dome - one of only a handful in the country. It holds a class of pupils at a time. It can be used for science, geography, 360 degree projection, religion (meditation) and literacy (e.g., poetry writing). Booking the Star Lab for your schoolThe Star Lab is available for loan to Wirral Schools and Public Organisations following training of staff to manage the equipment and make the presentation. Training is provided at the CLC at the beginning of each term. A CLC member of staff can make the presentations for you at a cost of £250 per day. Organisations outside of the Wirral Authority can borrow the Star Lab at £100 per day. The cost of a CLC member of staff to make the presentations is the same. Travel expenses and overnight stays are chargeable. The Lab is booked out a week at a time. Schools and organisations collect and return the equipment at the beginning and end of the loan period unless you wish to buy in a CLC member of staff. In this case training is not required and the equipment will be brought to your location. InsuranceWithin the local authority the Star Lab is insured under the CLC when out on loan or in transit. Outside of the local authority it is covered while a CLC member of staff is using it. Schools/Organisations outside of the local authority and borrowing the Star Lab have to make their own insurance arrangements.
