MEET THE STAFF

Michael McManus – CLC Manager

The CLC Manager maintains partnerships and develops the CLC’s business plan in response to Wirral’s 120+ schools, the Wirral LA objectives and BECTA’s national priorities. A key part of his brief is provision of a strategy. He is closely involved in program construction with CLC staff and independent consultants. CPD is also part of his brief. The strategy and program is sanctioned by the CLC’s Board of Governors, the Wirral 14-19 Partnership and by BECTA.

Steven Walsh – Technical Manager

Steven isin charge of the updating, ordering, installation and maintenance of the CLC’s six technology bases. He is frequently asked to research and report on different aspects of technology. He is constantly in demand for technical support across a range of media and IT equipment. A key part of his role is hands on workshop management of equipment while teachers teach.

 

Marie Gallagher - Receptionist

Marie is responsible for the smooth running of the centre on a day to day basis, and administers all ‘front of house duties’. She welcomes visiting classes and groups to Discovery and will oversee their welfare throughout the day. She arranges all transport and catering, as well as maintaining the booking system and liaising with members of the LA with regards to booking requests.

 

Jane McKeag - Office Administrator

Jane manages and monitors the CLC’s independent financial budget, including presenting reports to the Board. She is responsible for maintaining financial records, invoicing, credit control and the processing of all receipts and payments. Jane also advertises and co-ordinates the booking of primary workshops to ensure schools’ requests are accommodated.

Steven Greathead - Consultant

Steven is contracted to plan and deliver Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 (whole day) Science and Design Technology Workshops, mainly CLC based, but also school based (outreach) when required. Workshops are planned to incorporate a variety of 'easy access' Technology including Data-loggers, notebook PCs, Sc1 frames and a variety of supporting software. CPD training is included. Steven is an expert in KS1 and KS2 design technology, practical, hands on workshops.

Alan Crist – Consultant

Alan is contracted to assist in planning of KS1/KS2 science workshops, deliver technology learning support for the CLC’s diploma programme, overseas specified KS2 school based projects, deliver KS2 technology workshops in support of VLE promotion, E-safety and other subject areas. Alan is an expert in the use of technology supporting secondary school geography and environmental fieldwork.

Alan Thompson – Consultant

Alan is contracted to delivery KS2 technology workshops in support of VLE promotion, E-safety and other subject areas. He overseas specified KS2 school based technology for learning projects. He delivers podcasting. radio programme making and slo-mo camera support to secondary schools. His expertise includes professional photography, slo-mo camera and radio programme making.

 

All consultants are self employed and have their own consultancy work independently of the CLC.
