All visitors

All visitors report to reception. Visitors sign the visitors book on arrival and departure. The CLC receptionist provides visitors with a visitors badge. Visitors using the Ridgeway High School lunch canteen obtain a school badge at the CLC reception prior to entering the school. Lunches are purchased and brought back to the CLC. School badges are returned to the CLC reception.

Visiting classes of pupils

Visiting teachers are responsible for the pupils in their charge, i.e., their behaviour, conduct and movement around the centre in the context of accepted health and safety procedures. Teachers with visiting classes of pupils provide a class list to the receptionist in accordance with fire and health and safety regulations.

Risk assessments

On arrival the class teacher is issued with two risk assessment, a general risk assessment and a risk assessment specific to the pupil workshop.

Items covered in the General Risk Assessment are:

  • Pupil movement on and off buses
  • Pupil movement and conduct around the centre
  • Fire procedures
  • Entry of uninvited guests
  • Loss/theft of personal items
  • Tripping hazards
  • Food/drink
  • Photographs

The General Risk Assessment and Specific Workshop Risk Assessment are available to teachers on their pre-visits to the centre and issued by the receptionist to the class teacher on his/her arrival at the centre with the pupils.
