HEADTEACHER SUPPORT

Consultative support

Contribution to your school’s technology development can be made through arranging a one to one meeting at your school site, or at the CLC, by emailing Michael McManus: michaelmcmanus@discoveryclc.co.uk.

The initial consultation

  1. Sharing information on the current use of learning and teaching technology in the school.
  2. Sharing the weak areas of teaching standards and pupil attainment.
  3. Establishing budget and resource parameters.

A follow up consultation

  1. Prior CLC research into ways of addressing weaknesses.
  2. Use of research findings to agree ways of addressing resource weaknesses (within budget constraints).
  3. Staff commitment factored into additional resources provided and CPD programme of support agreed.

Self Review Framework

Becta (www.becta.org.uk) provides an Self Review Framework (SRF) for schools to audit the use of ICT and identify its development. Given the extensive nature of this audit, it may be that a school prefers to go through the initial consultation and technology planning process prior to undertaking the SRF.

Support for SRF is as follows:

  1. Assistance in the completion of the SRF Unit 1: Leadership and Management
  2. Assistance to obtain the SRF Next Generation Learning Charter
  3. Assistance to complete all elements of the SRF
  4. Advice with respect to obtaining the ICT Mark.

CPD

The CLC can customised CPD support based on the jointly agreed school’s technology plan

Planned provision can have elements of:

  1. Personalised CPD to meet school identified needs.
  2. Staff attendance at shared CPD sessions organised at the CLC.
  3. Individual members of staff undertaking EPICT modules (www.epict.co.uk).

Resources

Subject to availability, the CLC can support schools with equipment loan for the period of one term to enable teachers to pilot new equipment and software in ways that will add value to the learning and the teaching.
