PRIMARY SCIENCE

For many years now the CLC has run a very successful primary science workshop programme to support the Wirral LA’s science scheme of work including revision support for the now abolished KS2 Science SATs.

Under re-development

The programme is in process of being revamped in the context of new government initiatives re the ‘creative curriculum’ and in partnership with Collette Burrows, Wirral LA Primary Science Advisory Teacher, and Kathryn Jones, Wirral LA Primary Design Technology and Creative Curriculum Advisory Teacher.

Creative Curriculum links

There are plans to link science, design technology and ICT in ways that reflect the more subject linked topic orientated approach. There are also plans to link the use of ICT technology more closely to CPD. These plans will take full effect for the new academic year starting September, 2010.

Advertising and booking procedures

The established process for taking bookings will be followed, that is, workshops will be organised in blocks of two or three weeks at a time. The workshops will be advertised through iWiSch, or email, and teacher pre-visits arranged to ensure matched expectations and participation by teachers in the workshops.

We are in process of establishing and advertising our workshops for the financial year ahead, that is summer 2010 to end of spring 2011.
